Meet IAS officer who studied under lanterns, cracked UPSC exam without coaching; secured AIR 107
Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the most difficult recruitment exam to recruit eligible candidates for the civil services in India. Candidates dedicate years of their life to prepare for the exam and still, some fail to clear it.
But some extraordinary aspirants ace the exam in just their first attempt. One such example is IAS Anshuman Raj. His mindful strategy and tireless hard work are the reasons behind his success in the UPSC exam.
Anshuman Raj hails from a very humbled background in the Buxar district, of Bihar. He used to study under a kerosene lamp till he was in class 10th. The lack of resources and materials made him a habitual hard worker and inspired him to achieve goal.
He completed class 10 and 12 th from JNV Ranchi. Then he went to Marine Engineering and Research Institute for graduation. Before starting preparation for UPSC, he worked 4 years as marine engineering officer in a Hong Kong based company.
While many would gave up preparation when they faced financial issues, but anshuman's never give up attitude led him to LBSNAA ,even during poor financial condition faced by Anshuman's family. He fought his destiny with hard work and dedication to finally emerge as fighter. When Anshuman decided to self-study for the UPSC from his ancestral village. In his first attempts, he had already secured the post of an IRS but he aimed to become an IAS officer. He decided to give the exam the next year. As a result, Anshuman secured All-India Rank (AIR) 107 in the 2019 UPSC Civil Services Examination. Currently he is posted as SDM in the MP cadre.
